How to Build a Curated Ear Stack (Studs, Huggies & Climbers)

Studs, huggies and climbers from our collection

The 'curated ear' — a considered mix of earrings across your lobe and any second or third piercings — is one of the most-worn jewellery looks going. The trick is that it should look effortless and intentional at the same time. Here is how to build a stack that reads as styled rather than random, using pieces you can actually shop.

One honest note before we start: we don't currently stock ear cuffs, so this guide focuses on the three pieces we do sell — studs, huggies and climbers — which are more than enough to build a beautiful curated ear.

The three pieces to work with

Studs — your anchor

Every curated ear needs an anchor in the first (lobe) hole: a stud that you're happy to wear every day. A pearl or a single sparkling stone works perfectly — our Pearl Halo Studs or a crisp moissanite stud sit quietly and let the rest of the stack build around them.

Huggies — your workhorse

Huggie hoops sit snugly against the lobe or a second piercing and add movement without shouting. They're the most versatile piece in a stack — try the Pearl Cluster Huggie Hoops for softness, or the Moissanite Huggie Hoops for sparkle.

Climbers — your statement

An ear climber traces up the lobe and gives the illusion of several earrings from a single piercing — an easy way to add drama without more holes. The Moissanite Ear Climbers do exactly this.

Match the piece to the piercing

Piece Needs a piercing? Where it sits best
Stud Yes First lobe hole (your anchor)
Huggie hoop Yes Lobe or second piercing
Ear climber Yes (one piercing) Lobe — fakes a multi-earring look

How to make it look curated

Start with your anchor stud and add one piece at a time — a huggie next, then a climber — rather than filling every hole at once. Vary the scale (a small stud, a medium huggie, a longer climber) so there's rhythm rather than repetition. Keep the metal tone consistent across the whole ear so a mix of shapes still reads as one considered look, and let one piece be the focal point while the others support it.

If you only have one piercing, don't worry — a stud plus a climber in the same lobe already gives that layered effect, and a huggie can be swapped in whenever you fancy a change.

The short version

Anchor with a stud, add a huggie, finish with a climber. Vary the scale, keep one metal tone, and build slowly. You don't need a dozen piercings — just a few well-chosen pieces worn with intention.
