Looking expensive has very little to do with how much you spent. 'Quiet luxury' — the understated, logo-free aesthetic that keeps trending — is really about materials, proportion and restraint. Here are the styling rules that make jewellery look considered and high-end, most of which cost nothing at all.
1. Materials over flash
Expensive-looking jewellery starts with the right materials. Real freshwater pearls, 925 sterling silver, gold vermeil (thick gold over silver) and a bright, well-cut stone read as quality; thin plating over base metal and dull, cloudy stones do not. It's why a simple pair of pearl drop earrings can look far richer than something larger but cheaply made. Rhodium-plated silver, which we use across much of our range, gives that bright, white-gold look at a fraction of the cost.
2. Let one piece lead
Restraint reads as confidence. Choose one focal piece — a pendant like the Pearl Halo Necklace or the 3ct Moissanite Square Pendant — and keep everything else quiet around it. A single considered piece almost always looks more expensive than several competing ones.
3. Keep metals cohesive
Nothing looks more deliberate than a matched metal tone head to toe. You can absolutely mix metals well, but the safest route to an expensive look is to keep your earrings, necklace and rings in the same family — all silver, or all gold-toned.
4. Mind the proportion
Scale is everything. A pendant that sits at the right length for your neckline, earrings that suit your face, a chain that isn't too thin or too heavy — good proportion is what separates 'expensive' from 'a lot'.
